For occupational therapists: a contractor who builds to your recommendations
When you recommend a home modification, the build has to match it. Adapt & Thrive is a Greater Victoria accessibility renovation company that works from OT recommendations, asks before changing anything, and leaves the clinical decisions with you.
The short version.
- You assess, we build. We do not do functional assessments or recommend equipment.
- We work from your written recommendations and come back to you if site conditions mean something cannot be built as written.
- We follow up on referrals within one business day, with you and, with consent, your client.
- We itemize estimates so they work for BC RAHA applications and tax credit claims.
Our scope, and yours
Our job is to turn your recommendations into a build that works in the actual house.
We do not assess function, prescribe equipment or second-guess clinical judgement. If a recommendation cannot be built as written, for example because of stud locations, a concrete slab or a strata rule, we explain the constraint and bring you options instead of improvising on site.
What helps us from an OT report
The more specific the recommendation, the more exactly we can build it.
- Heights and positions relative to the person, not just a generic standard
- The person's stronger side and how they transfer
- Equipment dimensions: wheelchair, walker, shower commode or lift
- How urgent the need is, and whether you expect needs to progress
- Anything temporary versus permanent
How we keep you in the loop
With your client's consent, you hear from us at the points that matter.
- When we have reviewed your recommendations and visited the home
- Before work starts, if anything in the scope differs from what you recommended
- At completion, with photos of the finished work if helpful
Where placement is critical, we are happy to have you check marked positions before installation.
Credentials and standards
Andrew Faunt, our co-founder, is a Red Seal carpenter who has completed the Canadian Home Builders' Association Adaptiv Home Renovation Course. Laura Sinclair Faunt is a certified Senior Home Safety Specialist through Age Safe Canada.
We build to Canadian guidance (CSA B651) and the BC Building Code, not US ADA dimensions. Plumbing and electrical are done by licensed trades, and we require WorkSafeBC clearance letters from every subtrade. See how we build for the full list.
Funding and paperwork
BC RAHA requires written approval before work starts, and some adaptations need an OT or physiotherapist to confirm they are needed. BC Housing covers an OT or PT home assessment, where one is needed, up to $300 per household per year.
We provide itemized estimates for applications and keep invoices organized for the federal and BC tax credits. We cannot confirm anyone's eligibility; that sits with the programs themselves.
Funding details are summarized from public sources for convenience and may change. Adapt & Thrive is not affiliated with these programs and cannot confirm eligibility. Check the official source before relying on any figure.
Refer a client
The simplest way is our referral form. You can also call (778) 557-3444 or email hello@adaptandthrive.ca.
We follow up within one business day, confirm fit before any work is booked, and are upfront if a project is not right for us.
Common questions
Do you provide home accessibility assessments?
No. We do not provide clinical or functional assessments. We plan and build renovations, working from occupational therapist recommendations where they exist.
Can you price a project from an OT report alone?
Usually we need to see the home as well. Wall construction, floor structure, plumbing locations and the age of the house all affect what is practical and what it costs.
What happens if a recommendation cannot be built as written?
We explain the constraint to you and the client and offer options. We do not change placement or dimensions on our own.
Which areas do you serve?
Greater Victoria, including Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Langford, Colwood and the Saanich Peninsula.
